• Accounts in your host machine should be properly secured to prevent and unauthorized access or hacking.
• Just like installing what is necessary, your use of the host machine should only be done when you need it. If you are not utilizing the virtual machine, shut it down.
• Look out for the needs of network sharing or connections with other sources. If your virtual machine has no need to connect with other networks, then just isolate it. You can use a separate network card on a different network range if you need to connect.
• Always monitor the event log and security events on both the host machine and on the virtual machine. These logs should always be stored in your log vault for security and for auditing purposes at a later date.
• When using any hardware, do a check to see if that hardware is compatible with your version of the virtual machine and is designed for the specific use of a virtual machine.
• Another security aspect to consider is the strict management of remote access to your virtual machines especially to the host machine as this can minimize any attach and exposure to viruses.

Empty Your Recycling Bin

Disk Cleanup doesn’t cover all of your PC’s caches, either–especially if you’re using a browser other than Internet Explorer. There are other browsers that can help you clear unwanted cookies:

Firefox: Use Tools> Advanced> Network. Click the Clear Now button to clear the cache, and adjust the amount of space that the cache uses down to what you can spare.

Safari: Enable the menu bar by clicking the gear in the upper-right corner and choose Show Menu Bar. Now choose Edit, Empty Cache.

Google Chrome: Look for the wrench icon in the upper-right corner and click on it. Then go to Options, Personal Stuff, Clear Browsing Data. Here you can check what kinds of data to delete; check ‘Empty the Cache’ and select ‘Everything’ from the displayed drop-down menu.

Manage Your Media

No matter how many disks you have or how much you try to clean your PC, there’s still not enough space in your computer if you do not delete anything significant. Though that you can maximize capacity by managing your media:

Keep Archives: Keep archives of your movies, music and pictures. Instead of storing them in your computer or in CDs, utilize other storage means such as Google’s Picasa Web Album. Also, you can use this app called Fotobounce that enables you to upload and download albums with ease. The same goes for music and video files. If you already have them in Youtube or posted on Facebook, delete these files and use Fotobounce to re-download them again.

If you are a fan of series, you can either save these files into CDs and label them so you do not have to get rid of your precious collection. If you have too many CDs, it really won’t hurt to get rid of old episodes of the Bold and the Beautiful or Ally MacBeal.

Getting your website at the top of a search engine list isn’t hard, but keeping it there spells more work. The same is said for getting your website press ready. Here’s a check list that can help you get the quick fixing it needs to make it easier for the press to contact you:

1) Set your sites

At the least, your website should be a regular website with the basic applications and design as well as information to keep it normal. Basic websites enable your company to be easily picked up by Google spiders. Being findable is the first thing on your list. Your clientele should at least be able to find you by typing in your company name. Make sure that your company is live on the internet and has the same URL as advertised.

c) Also include where your company is headquartered in and include other helpful facts that are newsworthy such as contact information, time zone etc’.

3) Identify who the press should contact

Establish a point of contact for your media group. Most companies would get their Media or Public Relations department to be the point of contact to answer press queries, send out press releases and maintain media relations. The marketing communications department is also responsible for the media so make sure that whoever that is responsible to the media, sends out the right information inline with the company’s agenda. Make sure that the contact email that you use is simple and general such as info@mycompany.com or media@mycompany.com.

4) Include Links to your Press Releases

Usually, the media contact information should be included into a designation page for the media just as how you would have a designated section for ‘Investor Relations’ or ‘Customer Service’ and ‘About Us’. The ‘Contact Us’ page of you website should list all the contact information for your entire site’s potential visitors and it should also be linked to its designated page.
